Latest Commission: A new family heirloom for a 40th birthday...
One of the best parts of being a jewellery designer is having the opportunity to create special pieces full of meaning that will be handed down to future generations. During the first half of 2022 I was incredibly privileged to be asked to make such a piece for an upcoming 40th birthday, the final result which you can see pictured here.
Following initial discussions with my client (the recipient's husband) I came up with charm designs that represent key milestones in the birthday girl's life to date. I made the bracelet entirely by hand (without the use of casting or CAD) from solid 18ct yellow gold and diamonds. Here are some more details of the charms:
Charm 1: A graduation cap with the 'Chicago Booth' engraved around the rim representing a career in education and where the couple met.
Charm2: The TFL sign representing the city where the majority of the recipent's life has been lived and where the couple settled into family life.
Charm 3: A wedding and engagement ring representing the marriage of the couple and their very special European wedding.
Charm 4: A heart set with 3 diamonds, each representing one of their 3 children.
Charm 5: A tango shoe representing the Argentinian background of the recipient, her love of tango (and shoes!) as well as charity work which she had undertaken.
